The Rev. Lynn C. Edwards

Dear Father Lynn, You demonstrated your reverence for the Eucharist at our altar, and celebrated the mysteries of Christ’s Body and Blood with the All Saints parish. For this reason, we crafted our “Bread Banner” to be a fitting tribute not only for your years of ordained ministry but also in thanksgiving for the loving service you have provided our parish. You have helped us at two important times in the life of our church. The first time was when you were our interim priest. In that role, you helped us evaluate and discover the type of priest we were …

Pentecost Day

Dear Parishioners, Pentecost is the day when the Holy Spirit began His empowering work in the Church so that the Church could be empowered to   accomplish the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew     28:19-20: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded of you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. The message of Christ and His Resurrection is to be spread throughout the world, …

Banner Dedication on Pentecost

Banner Dedication—On Pentecost Sunday, we will dedicate the two beautiful banners on the Church entrance wall. We would like to thank the Banner Committee for sharing their craftsmanship and talent with the parish. The Banner Project began last fall with the help of our Banner Committee members: Sharon Brucker, Sue Butler, Michelle Hubert, Karen Schaeffer and Daryl Walker.  And with an eye for detail and precision, Rich Kwiatkowski carefully hung the finished banners.  The beauty of the banners enhances our worship space, and is a visible testament to the varied God-given talents of our parishioners. Thank you!

A Letter to the Baptized Child

The Rev. John Schaeffer, priest-in-charge of All Saints Church in Brighton Heights, has been quite busy baptizing babies and children since last July. Since that time, he has baptized 8 children! A little over a year ago, All Saints parish did not have any children in the parish and now, they not only have baptized children but also a growing Sunday school! What is behind this enormous surge in baptisms? It could have something to do with an innovative idea that Fr. John created — a baptismal letter.   Fr. John delivers a sermon in the form of a letter …

Would you like to be a Lay Reader or Acolyte?

We need to train a few additional people to assist with Sunday worship as Lay Readers and/ or Acolytes. Duties for Lay Readers include: Scripture lessons and Prayers of the People. Duties for Acolytes include: Carrying the cross, assisting with the Gospel Book, lighting the candles, and serving Father John at the Altar table as he prepares the Eucharist. Please see Father John if you would like to participate in this most meaningful ministry. It is not a long training process, and it is Father John’s hope to have a monthly schedule of helpers in the New Year.

Jottings by Jean

Self Improvement Who of us has not heard Debbie Boone singing “You Light Up My Life” on TV? The advertisement begins “Light Up Your Life, give yourself a lifestyle lift” as the before and after plastic surgery middle-aged women’s photos are flashed on the screen. One testimonial says, “If you can do something to make yourself better, then go do it.” The ads proclaim this surgery is affordable and that it will wipe the aging off your face.   A funny story I heard when a wife asked her husband for $3500 to have plastic surgery on her eyelids and …
